After months of speculation Anthony Vaccarello has finally been named as the new creative director of Saint Laurent after Hedi Slimane’s exit.
Saint Laurent’s parent company Kering confirmed the news in a statement yesterday. “His modern, pure aesthetic is the perfect fit for the maison”, Francesca Bellettini, the president and chief executive of Yves Saint Laurent, said.
The last three years Anthony Vaccarello spent at Versus Versace, at first as a consultant and since 2015 as creative director. He left this position just three days ago.
It’s interesting, that Belgian-born designer has known for his sexuality-laced collections of slashed and laced-up mini-skirts and shiny black leather, which are similar to Hedi Slimane’s style.
Vaccarello will present his first collection for Saint Laurent in October, during the spring-summer 2017 shows of Paris Fashion Week.
