The Summer blaze is upon us, so today we’re going to talk about protecting your tender skin from the active sun, while looking gorgeous and feeling great. Sunscreen cosmetic products can be divided into two types: every day and active. Active ones have intensive defense against the sun, with high SPF levels, these kinds of creams are used when you’re on vacation, by the seaside, in the mountains or at your summer retreat. While your everyday ones are used in the daily life that you live in the concrete jungle. Your everyday skin care products are day creams (you don’t need SPF in your nightly makeup, unless sometimes you use it as a technical addition), lip balms, emulsions and hydro gels, as well as decorative makeup. These products with SPF are enough to keep you protected in urban areas, active sunscreen applications create an unneeded layer and stickiness under your makeup, they also have the ability to clog up your pores, so make sure to use active ones only while on vacation.
Usually SPF consistency in daily creams is from 8 to 30. The optimal number we’re looking for is from 15 to 30, and make sure that the makeup has a wide spectrum of protection, which covers harmful UVA and UVB rays. The higher the SPF, the thicker and fatter the consistency of the cream is. Products with an SPF of 15 can be light on texture, while an SPF of 30 will be thick, as well as dense. With the possibility of pigmentation, during or after having a peeling choose a higher SPF, at least 30, depending on the type and feature of your skin. Here are some variations that you can mix between when choosing your makeup for the day:
- Daily cream with SPF 30+, decorative makeup without SPF;
- Daily cream with SPF 15+ decorative makeup with SPF 30;
- Daily cream without SPF + separate SPF+ makeup.
My personal favorite combination consists of a cream with an SPF of 15, and decorative makeup with the SPF ranging from 8 to 30. The market has a wide variety of products, in the fiery summer heat I prefer DayWear Estee Lauder tonal cream, which has an SPF of 15. Its light texture can be applied to all skin types. Premium BB-cream with an SPF of 36 by Anna Lotan is my personal favorite during the whole course of the year, this cream does great day in and day out for skin that tends to dry out quickly. It intensively moistens the skin, has a wide specter of protection against UVA/UVB rays, and effectively tones skin defects, while giving your skin a smoothing touch. Clinique Moisture Surge CC Cream Hydrating Colour Corrector SPF 30 works great as a light tonal cream, moisturizing and protecting from the sun along the way.
If you’re looking for a gentle texture, have a look at sunscreen products imported from Asian regions. They have a vast market, filled with SPF creams, along with a high volume of cream-gel textures with high factors of protection and mild tonal effects. Plus powder can be used to really balance out the skin tone to your desired level. A great choice for me is the SPF 15 Sheer Cover Loose Mineral Powder, it will help your makeup last longer, as well as protect your skin from the sun. I love what Clarins has to offer, they have a wide ranging choice of products for active and decorative makeup with great sun protection, while having awesome texture and great quality. Be beautiful this Summer, with skin that is healthy, glowing and tan at the same time!
