Next day we woke up in the small hotel few km from village of Vik! Vik is the most southern village in Iceland that located on the main ring road around the island and 180km from Reykjavik! In summer Vik is well known for the huge quantity of seabirds such as Puffins but there is only a special time during the day when it’s possible to see them so I was almost running :))
The beach of this village is amazing! Cliffs and black sand made it one of the ten most beautiful beaches on Earth due to the US journal Islands Magazine. While walking there I saw a lot of Puffins, but first I saw them in the water fishing their food and only after it was possible to see them super close on the top of the cliffs. I cant believe that I saw this little cute birds in the menu of the local restaurants like a specialty of the house 🙁
After our walking tour we’ve left Vik for glacial lagoon Jokulsarlon! 190km and around 2.5 hours took us to reach it! I never saw something like this in my life! The lake full of huge icebergs has really spectacular view! It’s really unique place with iceberg breaking of from the glacier and eventually drifting through the short river to the sea!
There was a lot if different boat tours but we choose one with the fast boat and maximum 10 people inside as it was really important for me to stop when I want and to make pictures :))
Really unforgettable place!
